Well, this is it! How should I try to summarise the past however-many months? I know! I should split it into chunks of ever increasing prime numbers! Hmm, maybe not. Fun as that sounds, I can't really be bothered to work out all the logistics. If that is even the correct word. I suspect it isn't, but I like it anyway.
For those interested in my goings on, click here. ( Stand back! I'm going to try SCIENCE! ) For those not interested in what I have been up to... Er well, I can't really think what to say. Hmm, nice weather the past couple of days, eh? Makes a difference from all that rain. Rain is wet. Indeed it is. So wet it can make other things wet by simple physical contact. Imagine that! If only I could make things enter a constant state of mild bemusement by touching them! Oh, the possibilities.
Oh, I did read the last HP book. In fact, I finished it on the Sunday after it came out (I would have read it on Saturday, but I was working. In fact, I did keep sneaking upstairs to the staff room to read a couple of pages - naughty me!), and I did quite enjoy it. Slightly disappointed with the identity of RAB, but I was so right about Snape. So right it hurts! And now I can say to people years from now "Hey man, you don't know what it was like. I was there, man! I was there!" Oh yes, it's going to be fun.
Right, I'm off now. I shall try to not leave it so long next time. But I'm crap (in hopefully a slightly endearing way) at organising myself to do anything. Bye for now! |

Hello world and those from beyond. What is the opposite of beyond? Within I guess. Hello also to those within. That's a generic within, not specifically to those people either underground at the moment or the possible people trapped inside my own body.
I am at risk of being seriously sidetracked here. Which is one of the biggest risks I face these days. Not because it is particularly dangerous, but because it happens so frequently. I think I am one of those kind of people that get sidetracked. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing. It certainly makes conversations with me curious affairs.
Anyway, I shall split this into parts.
Part I - In which I beg for information.
So yes, I have been away from LiveJournal (and a large proportion of the interweb) for... what, two months or so now? I have just become so frustrated with dial-up that time online is... okay I can't think of another word for frustrating. Irritating? No, that's not right. Anyway, you get the general idea. It's not like I haven't been trying to get broadband. It's just that my dad is a complete idiot. And nothing I say or do is going to change that. I can't get LJ at the library, as the website is banned. All in all, not good.
So yes, I've been away. So if anything particularly exciting/thrilling/slightly interesting has happened in that time, it would be cool to let me know. If you feel like it. No pressure. It's not like I've been up to much myself, to be honest. Which I guess brings me to...
Part II - In which I invent some stories to make my life seem interesting.
How much can one man right about his own endeavors? I guess that depends on the man and how much he is going to ramble. In terms of write barely legible nonsense, rather than whether he is going to go off walking around the countryside. You may ask why I bring that up, but since I do work in an outdoor gear shop at the moment it is ( Regardez la chat ) |

| 2006 - A Year in Review |
[Jan. 8th, 2007|07:20 pm] |
|
For some reason known only to the gods of the aether, I thought it would be a good idea to write a review of last year. Especially as we are now over 2% of the way through the new one. A review like those that you get in newspapers, except with much less information and far more rambling nonsense. So that's what I am doing. ( Introductions over, let's get on. ) |

I am still alive! I have had no (and still have minimal) computer and interweb access for quite a while now. Apologies for not actually talking about things that I should do - especially since I have things to talk about now. My first paycheque is clearly going on a new computer for little old me. I shall write lots on it, as well as my usual pursuits of downloading music and pissing around online for hours at a time. Hooray! I plan to write a short story called "The Christmas Table Fable". You heard it here first!
At my brother's flat/house/thing for New Year. A small and intimate gathering. Does this mean I shall be civilised enough to keep my trousers on? Who knows! Only time will tell... |

A quick update to say that I am back home after a fun-filled frolic to fre-Durham. I will have a proper post posted post-haste. Later. It will contain tales of my misdeeds, and exciting info on my new job. For now, adieu! |

I've had a request to write more gibberish, so while I wait for my download to finish (how did dial-up ever seem fast?) I shall get started. It has to be gibberish because I can't think of anything sensible to write about. No major events in the life of me.
Oh, before that. I'm coming up to Durham this weekend, which promises to be slighly more flavoursome than recent abodation in Parentland. ( More... ) |

Nope, didn't get the job. Thanks for all your good luck messages though!
I feel as if I should write a lot, as it has been such a long time since I have written anything at all. That is the trouble with parentally-supervised dial-up! Oh, how exceedingly it doth suck! It's not like there is any alternative either - the library is half an hour's walk away (and this half an hour back), and has utterly incomprehensible censorship. LiveJournal is banned because it contains pornography(!), so it seems to be dedicated entirely to email and wikipedia. I wonder whether the wikipedia entry for pornography is censored? I shall have to check.

Had my job interview with the underwater acoustics place yesterday. I have no idea how it went - they'll let me know next week. They asked me several odd questions. I guess that's the way interviews are.
The company was smaller than I was expecting. Only six or so of them, I think.
No other news. Bleh, I'm being really boring at the moment. I'll try to rectify that. |

In the news today:
Mates of state totally rock!!
Unfortunately the photos I took with my phone are more surreal than functional, but never mind that. It was totally a great gig. Even the warm-up acts were cool. And as an added bonus, I met Kori afterwards (she was looking for the changing room!) and I could go on about how wonderful it all was but you've probably got the picture by now.
Yay!
Anyway, that brings the numbers for things I want to do before I die up to 37% (this is an estimate, and ever-varying).
Oh yes, Oxford party was fun, London was fun, etc. etc. No doubt I will have thoughts about it and stuff. |

Mr Jeff McJeff today completed his trek across antarctica. When asked if he had any problems, he said that he had forgotton to pack a couple of things in his suitcase, but luckily he found a supermarket halfway across and picked up most of what he wanted there. |

You know, watching the news is pretty depressing. They always big up the bad stuff and try to make it as shocking as possible. Except local news, which watching is like an exercise in masochism. Slow painful masochism. I should make my own news. Would you read it? At first, I would call it this, though I am very open to better names.
The Malkian
Today three kittens were rescued from a tree. They had become trapped in the brances when their helicopter malfunctioned whilst on a reconnaisence mission. The upper echelons of Cattism are being asked questions today on the continued use of helicopters by kittens, but for the three that were saved today, they are just relieved to be here. Speaking exclusively to the Malkian, one of the three said "It wasn't as traumatic as it sounds. Luckily we had a ball of yarn in the emercency supplies, so we just batted that about until we were rescued. The mission wasn't dangerous, it was kind of a training mission I guess." Nevertheless, an enquiry has been launched as to the cause of the accident, and the helicopter pieces have been taken away for forensic testing. The tree has so far refused to comment.
More tomorrow. |

I am definately going stir-crazy. I just had a 30 minute conversation with myself about which science to apply myself too if I accidentaly get sent back in time to olden times (anywhere between 300 and 100 years ago. Obviously physics would be my area of expertise, but medicine is more needed, even though I know next to nothing about it. Maybe I should learn something other than basic first aid. |

In Salisbury now, staying with the parental units. Which has already begun to suck. Oh well, it gives me incentive to get the hell out of here. I am currently in the city library, which has decided to prevent me from viewing my friends-list, but still allow me to update. Stupid thing.

Thunder! Lightening! very very frightening...
I love thunderstorms - they are way cool. And I am currently in the middle of one right now (though snug inside while it rages around me). Normally I go tramping around in them, but today I am content with staying dry. Plus I only have one pair of shoes, and I don't want to get them covered in mud.
No news on the job front, but in a related matter I have bought my second fish of the week. A trout this time, it was herring before. Why is that related, I hear you ask in an interragatory tone? Well, both of them don't have the letter q in them. And neither does Huw Edwards, so I hereby present:
Huw Edwards: A thouroughly modern man
Oh Huw With your eyes so blue Or are they? I haven't got a clue.
You are a collossus Towering over all of us Even when we sit on the top of a bus.
You read the news with your lip so curly With your best suit on, looking kinda burly Like you would kill anyone who called you girly.
Little do the public know The tortured soul that lives in your elbow A little spirit by the name of Flo
Hello Flo, so nice to see you, even if you are gone in a trice Separated from the world of men and mice.

| | trippy | ] | Well, I have now applied for Government Operational Research. No, I'm not entirely sure what it is either, but it sounded cool so I went for it. If I do get it, I will become a certified Science Officer!
The online application took me a gruelling hour and a half (bleh). I had to do it in the library (where I still am, since I can't be bothered to move), since it didn't like aardvarklf's computer. I had to do it in one sitting, since the save function lies and evilly deletes what you have tried to save. I don't expect I will get the job, but I guess the more experience at applications, the better.
I have also polished off my CV so that I can apply to Blockbuster. A slightly different job, methinks.
When I am back home, I shall write more. I plan to write an interesting article called "Time travel v improvisational comedy: the eternal battle". Honestly. I do. |

| [ | Current Music |
| | Mates of State | ] | Yesterday I spent an inordinately long time cooking. This was probably due to the fact that I was woken up at 6:30am by the smoke alarm saying "Hello all! I'm a cheeky little fella who is going to chirp randomly for a day or so, for no apparant reason!". I always act oddly when I don't get enough sleep. Of course, last night I slept for 12 hours, so I am probably acting oddly today as well. I wonder how long it has been since the last time I was normal...
Today I am making a themed mix CD (no particular reason, I just felt the urge). Anyway, it's more difficult than I had previously imagined. This is undoubtedly becuase it has a theme - all my previous mix CDs have posed no problems, but the only two criteria with the songs on them have been that the songs are good, and that they fit. The theme adds an extra facet of doom. But then, we all like a challenge, eh?
Suggestions about what I should do this evening would be very welcome. |

Well, I've been feeling shit for a month now.
Go me.
No, I haven't figured out whether its anything to do with anything. Cause: mysterious. Unless its post-shingles something, even though that cleared up several weeks ago (except for some cool scars under my right arm). Oh well, doctor visiting again then. |
